Rally Masters Show 2013 won’t be the first for multi Latvian champion Ivars Vasaraudzis. On the 20th of April he will start in Mitsubishi Lancer Evo prepared by ASRT team.
You participate in Rally Masters Show not for the first time. What do you like most in this event? What would you like to change?
Ivars Vasaraudzis: First of all I would like to thank organizers – TTK Motorsport Events and Timur Kafarov, Moscow Government and Moskomsport – for the invitation for such nice event. Of course, this rally is show but with some moments of competition! Asphalt special stages are not our strong points because in Latvia and other Baltic countries grave rallies are more popular. As in Russia as well, by the way. Last year stages were interesting and we got a good experience in competing with other drivers. It was an interesting idea to make SS1 on ice but I wish it could have been longer. I like the density of the competition. The organizers make a lot of efforts to make the participants feel comfortable. This is a show and competition at the same time, the organizers brought rally in a big city to show and let feel spectators how motorsport is wonderful!
Have you ever had such kind of rallies as Rally Masters Show in Latvia?
Ivars Vasaraudzis: No, Rally Show hasn’t been arranged yet but we have Champion Rally in Talsi where many rally champions come.
What is your attitude to asphalt rally?
Ivars Vasraudzis: Good, but frankly speaking, I don’t have enough experience for fast moving. There are many nuances but it’s ok, every kilometer gives something new!
You have performed in a WRC car, at Rally Masters Show you will drive an N group car. Is it difficult for a driver to change a car from one category to another one? How long does it take to adapt?
Ivars Vasaraudzis: Yes, I have driven a lot Mitsubishi Lancer WRC in the Baltic countries – it’s a dream of each rally driver! The difference is big, of course, - brake, speed, weight. But as Evgeny Novikov showed last year – if you are fast, then you are fast in any car! Sometimes I fail in doing this but I do my best!
Rally Masters Show will be held on the 20 of April at Krylatskoe in Moscow. TTK Motorsport Events is an organizer of it. The rally is supported by Moscow Government and Moskomsport.
